Brakes

Brakes are perhaps the most important safety feature on your vehicle, being responsible for bringing the vehicle safely to a complete stop, when required.

The two aspects of your vehicle braking system that require regular maintenance are the brake pads and brake fluid.

Brake pads are designed to wear as your vehicle is driven and therefor need to be replaced periodically to ensure that the braking system remains effective. We use Bendix an OEM supplier of the finest quality brake components for greater safety.

Similarly your vehicle's brake fluid also requires periodic replacement. Over time brake fluid absorbs moisture and this can lead to a variety of problems from premature brake wear, to complete brake failure. Flushing and replacing the brake fluid is the only way to stop water build up in the brake lines and rid the system of contaminants. Simply adding new fluid is not enough.

For a more efficient and longer lasting brake system, talk to our staff and arrange a thorough inspection of your vehicle's brakes.

Steering

To operate effectively, your power steering system relies on power from the engine and lubrication from the power steering fluid.

A power steering system is generally subjected to harsh temperatures and high operating pressures leading to deterioration of the fluid over time. When power steering fluid circulates throughout the system, it picks up contaminants from wear material as well as from the breakdown of aging hoses and seals. Contamination and oxidation cause the fluid to thicken with age. As the fluid breaks down it loses it's cleaning and lubricating properties leading to premature wear on expensive steering components. Leaks, sludge, varnish deposits, stiffness and system failure can occur.

Neglect leads to power steering complaints including poor handling, harsh and sluggish steering and groaning from the power steering system.

Experts recommend periodic flushing or fluid changes on all power steering systems once a year.

Suspension

Suspension not only provides you a comfortable ride, it gives a safe one. The suspension system is what keeps your vehicle in contact with the road. Your vehicle's suspension system has two main components, springs and shock absorbers.

The springs absorb the impact of the road allowing the wheels to move up and down to account for bumps and dips in the road surface, whilst providing the occupants with a smooth ride.

Shock absorbers minimise spring oscillation, ensuring that your ride is a comfortable one free from excessive bouncing and more importantly they hold your vehicle's tyres firmly to the road. Over time shock absorbers start to leak, losing their effectiveness and impacting the ride quality and safety of your vehicle.

Worn suspension components lead to longer braking distances and premature tyre wear. In wet conditions aqua planning can occur when brakes are applied leading to dangerous situations.

Our expert technicians can inspect and repair all suspension components. We use Monroe Shock Absorbers, as suppliers of the finest quality items, for greater safety.

Transmission

During operation your transmission's internal components are constantly being cooled, cleaned and lubricated by transmission oil to keep all of the gears and shafts running smoothly. The oil is subjected to extremes of pressure and heat so over time the oil breaks down, becomes contaminated and needs to be replaced.

The oil thickens and loses its ability to lubricate moving parts and transfer heat away from critical components. This reduces the performance and service life of the very components the oil is intended to protect. Deposits begin to form around the transmissions many moving parts, resulting in valves that stick and gears that slip or are sluggish and chatter as they shift.

To avoid premature wear, the transmission oil and filter should be changed at regular intervals depending on the manufacturer's recommended mileage intervals and the driving conditions that your vehicle is subject to.

Call us to talk with one of our experienced technicians about carrying out a transmission service or transmission oil flush on your vehicle.
